Objective: Functioning as part of a multidisciplinary team, Registered Dietitians work with PCN physicians, other health professionals, and local and regional programs to ensure a high quality of evidence-based health care is delivered to the population we serve.

Our Registered Dietitians provide respectful, patient-focused care. Registered Dietitians provide comprehensive nutrition care, education and support to referred patients of the Edmonton West PCN through individual and group programming.

Additionally, Registered Dietitians work with patients to determine their personal long-term goals and use a non-dieting approach to help make sustainable and realistic changes.


With a mission to support family physicians in improving primary care through relationships, collaboration and innovation, Edmonton West Primary Care Network is a group of family doctors who work with other health professionals to coordinate the comprehensive delivery of primary care services for their patients. Our team of health professionals include Nurses, Dieticians, Pharmacists, Behavioural Health Consultants, Social Workers and Exercise Specialists who collaborate to provide comprehensive primary care services for the community.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutrition
  • Completion of a Dietetic internship from a Dietitians of Canada Accredited Internship Program
  • Active registration with College of Dietitians of Alberta. (Must be responsible to maintain and provide proof of active registration and practice)

Previous Experience:

  • A minimum of five years healthcare or related experience is required
  • Experience as a group facilitator and knowledge of adult learning principles is required
  • Experience and knowledge using 5 A’s and Best Weight principles in obesity management is an asset
  • Experience incorporating mindful eating and mindfulness practices into counselling is an asset
  • Experience in pediatric nutrition is an asset
  • Experience in nutrition counselling using a non-diet approach will be considered an asset

  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner in addition to being able to identify the most appropriate method of communication
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, organize time, multi-task and set priorities to meet various deadlines and maintain a flexible schedule
  • Strong follow-through and attention to detail
  • Strong listening, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Is flexible, open-minded and adaptable to change
  • Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team
