As a Peer Team Lead, you will have the opportunity to show your passion for the Sheridan community by motivating, coaching and inspiring fellow students through their leadership journeys. We will be hiring 2 Peer Team Leads at the HMC campus. This opportunity will allow you to develop strong leadership, facilitation and event planning skills. Peer Team Leads will also have opportunities to network with students and staff, and bond with a team of student leaders – creating lifelong friendships through inspiring and supporting your fellow Sheridan Bruins!
**Open to FULL TIME Sheridan students who are returning for the 2020/2021 Academic Year**
As a Peer Team Lead, duties include:
Acting as a role model by demonstrating leadership, professionalism, and positively representing
Actively supporting the growth, goal setting, and work of a team of Peers
Creating schedules for all Peers within assigned team (approximately 10-15 Peers)
Organizing a minimum of 2 team bonding/staff appreciation events per term
Facilitation of Leadership Workshops for Sheridan students throughout the year
Co-facilitate New Student Orientation and start of term workshops/presentations including icebreakers, information sessions, and student support with start of term tasks (groups range in size from 540people)
Supporting, planning and participating in special events and outreach activities based on students’ needs according to the student life cycle
Participate in on-going training and personal development activities
Document and track interactions with students
Lead campus Peer team meetings and campus team meetings to creatively plan and coordinate events with Peer Team Members
Full- t ime student returning on-campus in both the Fall 2020 AND Winter 2021 Term (i.e. no co-op, internship, or practicum terms in Fall or Winter)
Must have on-campus student leadership experience (ex: as a Peer Mentor, STAR, RA, PAL, etc.)
Must be in good academic standing
Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
Good presentation skills
Well organized , dependable, and flexible/adaptable
Passionate about Sheridan and helping other students
Proficiency in basic computer programs
Experience in customer service
Must be available to attend all mandatory training and N ew S tudent O rientation Events
Peer Team Lead Mandatory Training Dates: August 27 and 28th
Fall New Student Orientation dates: August 31September 4, 2020
Fall Mandatory Leadership Training Dates: September 11September 13, 2020
Winter New Student Orientation dates: January 5th8th, 2021
Winter Mandatory Leadership Training Date: January 16th, 2021
