Lifeguard & Swim Instructor (Part Time)
Remington YMCA
Salary: $16.65/hr
Start Date: January 2, 2020

What qualifications are we looking for? At we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals.The successful candidates will have the following;
Lifeguard:
  • National LifeguardPool certification;
  • Standard First Aid (recertified within the last 36 months);
  • CPR C certification (recertified within the last 12 months);
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search;
  • Three professional references.

Instructor:
  • YMCA Swim Instructor, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, or Swim for Life Instructor certification;
  • Lifesaving Instructor would be considered an asset;
  • Standard First Aid (recertified within the last 36 months);
  • CPR C certification (recertified within the last 12 months);
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search;
  • Three professional references.
What does this role look like at ? Lifeguards and Swim Instructors will:
  • Ensure a safe aquatic environment by following National Lifeguard standards and/or YMCA Policies and Procedures;
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service;
  • Are knowledgeable of YMCA programs and services;
  • Complete administrative tasks, update class rosters, lesson plans, check equipment, clean equipment, Perform light maintenance tasks when not guarding or instructing;
  • Perform all scheduled water tests;
  • Keep pool area clean and organized;
  • Respond to emergencies according to National Lifeguard standards and/or YMCA Policies and Procedures;
  • Work as a team, communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and members in all situations;
  • Attend all scheduled in-services;
  • Attend all necessary YMCA training.
