Intermediate Field Engineer Job Openings in Edmonton

As Intermediate Field Engineer with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of Engineering professionals. This position is based in our Edmonton office.
Reporting to the Manager, Engineering, this position will be responsible for managing capital projects which are focused on ensuring the integrity of Trans Mountain's pipeline and all related facilities, in order to maintain public safety and protection of the environment. Provide technical direction and design input to operations to facilitate maintenance activities on equipment or process piping and support the safe operation and regulatory compliance of Trans Mountain's pipeline system.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide project engineering and management services including managing 3rd party engineering firms; project scoping; preparing AFE’s; drawing/design review, permitting, job hazard analysis, cost and schedule tracking, construction liaison, commissioning and start-up support.
  • Develop and execute operations or sustaining capital projects with multiple project stakeholders (internal and external). Prepare project specification/scopes of work, cost estimates, tender/bid documents and analysis, bid awards, budgets, schedules and execution plans.
  • Coordinates with other regions, technical services, operations and engineering departments to develop and define sustaining capital and operations projects. Coordinates efforts to assure facility and pipeline modification designs meet project and company objectives (fit for purpose).
  • Advises management on engineering technical questions and issues. Provides engineering and technical support to Operations.
  • Contribute to on-going TMC-wide integrated safety and loss management system (ISLMS) development and implementation to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Forecast and evaluates issues/events that may constitute an increase or decrease in project quality, scope, cost or schedule. Manage and/or coordinate project activities that are in compliance with the final scope and ensure the safety, quality, technical requirements, value and schedule of project.
  • Prepares detailed engineering job plans, JHA, CTA's, PHA's in consultation with operations and other departments to allow maintenance crews to work safely and efficiently on all maintenance and shutdown related jobs.

Qualifications and Professional Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical.
  • Professional engineer designation (APEGBC and/or APEGGA).
  • Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in a related field.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a background in pipeline engineering.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Works collaboratively with othersincumbent will spend majority of time working with operations staff.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex problems and make sound decisions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
