Senior Financial Analyst Job Opening in Toronto,

The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for the full cycle accounting for a set of corporate legal entities. Responsibilities include the month-end close process, assistance with corporate level budgeting and forecasting, preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, liaising with stakeholders and auditors, managing cash balances and completing technical accounting analysis. The Senior Financial Analyst will also have a role in overseeing a Financial Analyst, including review of work performed and coaching.
As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
Month-End Close Process

  • Responsibility for monthly and quarterly close process for a portfolio of legal entities (including corporate holding companies and entities holding investment property)
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of the cash, equity, investment property, debt, and intercompany account balances and periodic reconciliation of other general ledger account balances
  • Oversee work performed by a Financial Analyst, including providing coaching and review of journal entries and reconciliations
Quarterly Reporting
  • Prepare quarterly unaudited financial statements for lender compliance purposes, including complex consolidations of assigned corporate structures
  • Assist with management reporting for the Oxford enterprise, as it relates to assigned portfolio of entities and assets
Annual Reporting
  • Complete non-consolidated tax financial statements and working papers for various legal entities
  • Prepare annual audited financial statements under IFRS for various consolidated corporate structures
  • Responsible for audit support, including preparing supporting working papers and acting as the primary point of contact for the auditors
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly forecasts and the annual budget for corporate entities
  • Complete variance analysis for portfolio of forecasts prepared
Cash Management
  • Monitor bank balances and prepare cash flow forecasts to ensure sufficient funds to meet operational and development funding requirements
  • Prepare steps memos, solvency tests and other documentation necessary to support contributions and distributions for various legal entities
Process Improvements & Other Initiatives
  • Propose recommendations for process improvements to support efficiency and effectiveness of day to day activities
  • Take an active role in team projects / initiatives
  • Liaise with other departments, including Treasury, Tax, Legal
To succeed in this role, you have:
  • University degree in accounting or business
  • Completion of CPA designation
  • Minimum 3 years experience in corporate accounting, real estate experience preferred but not required
  • Experience in a large environment with a complex organizational structure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required, and exposure to JD Edwards and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) preferred
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to a changing and fast paced corporate environment managing multiple competing deadlines
  • Strong communication / interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) as job will require frequent communication with all levels of management and other departments
  • Able to embrace steep learning curve with an open attitude towards learning
