Human Resources Manager Job Openings in Chilliwack

The AdvanTec People & Culture Team is looking for a positive, outgoing and service oriented People & Culture Manager to join our team in Chilliwack, BC for a 13-month mat leave contract. As the People & Culture Manager you will oversee all aspects of AdvanTec’s People and Culture for two companies with a total of six locations in BC, Alberta, Washington and Oregon with both union and non-union environments. In addition, you will be a strong leader and mentor to a growing People and Culture team of 3 People and Culture professionals and an Administrative professional.

As the People & Culture Manager you are expected to embody all aspects of AdvanTec’s core values of Collaboration, Dependability and Efficiency and be a sounding board and barrier remover for your team members, managers and colleagues.

This role will be performed 4 days per week in Chilliwack, BC and 1 day per week in Maple Ridge, BC with quarterly travel to our other facilities in Lynnwood, WA and Gold Beach, OR.

This contract is anticipated to begin April 2020 and end May 2021.

Essential Functions for this role are:

  • Oversee & effectively manage the People & Culture team across all organizations
  • Deliver on organizational development plans and People & Culture staff development plans
  • Follow through and implementation of the strategic goals for the People & Culture Manager to align with organizational goals/business strategy
  • Research, create and develop People & Culture programs and initiatives as needed
  • Assistance with Labour relations/employee relations (grievances and terminations) as needed
  • Collaborate effectively with legal counsel on collective bargaining and employment legal issues
  • Collaborating with outside HR consultant to provide advice to management on employee legislation, policy and Collective Agreement interpretations
  • Provide knowledge on trends in HR and best practices
  • Act as Recruitment Partner on senior manager and executive level positions, as well as taking on mid-level professional roles as needed
  • Review, management and development of Company Policies and Procedures
  • Collaborate with the VP, Finance on Fiscal Year 2021/2022 budget development
  • Acting as Culture Champion to drive organization culture across all facilities
  • Schedule, provide follow up training and coordination for annual performance reviews for all facilities
  • Collaborate with leadership on the plan, review and implementation of annual merit increases for Canadian facilities as needed
  • Review and approve all new or updated job descriptions
  • Attend weekly leadership meeting to report on People & Culture metrics and provide updates on initiatives
  • Attends monthly one-on-one meetings with team members to hear about wins, improvements and barriers that need to be moved to support team members

If you have the following skills, then we want to hear from you!

  • 5 or more years’ progressive experience providing full-cycle Human Resources support within a Manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 2 years experience managing and mentoring a team
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related such as business administration, industrial relations, commerce or psychology.
  • CPHR Designation is a strong asset
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining relationships with leaders, managers and team members
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Strong knowledge of BC employment standards as well as experience with Labour relations
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the proven ability to take initiative and discover creative solutions to problems
  • Brings a spirit of continuous improvement to your role and always looks for ways to move the needs, improve processes and make manager and team members working lives better
  • Experience working with ADP Workforce Now is a strong asset
  • Your integrity is admired by those around you

  • You are driven and enjoy some autonomy in a position
