Job Summary:

Plant/ Production Manager position directs and manages all stone manufacturing plant operations with overall responsibilities for successful delivery of product to customers, production, cost controls, maintenance and other production-related activities. Attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure are a must. This is a key role within the organization. The ideal candidate is a team player, focused on people development and performance of the operation. Manufacturing leadership is a must and hands on knowledge and experience of stone products is a strong asset.

Essential Functions:

  • The Plant/ Production Manager directs and manages all manufacturing operations with overall responsibility for production, maintenance, quality and other production-related activities to achieve effective and efficient use of facilities and human capital
  • Establishes operations standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety and improved efficiency
  • Maintains plant staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
  • Maintains an adequate labor force and sets production goals to meet business demands while improving plant cost effectiveness
  • Manages policy deployment to achieve quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures
  • Constantly improving production flow of all products, assists in developing plant layout in planning rearrangements of facilities, equipment and operations
  • Defines and recommends objectives in each area of the operation for continuous improvement
  • Determines and eliminates root causes and diminishes occurrences in the manufacturing process
  • Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development in a way that supports a positive work culture
  • Responsible for production related communication flow and coordination between all resources, including all delivery team
  • Monitors all production reports to ensure achievement of financial, safety, quality, and on-time delivery of the product
  • Oversee the receipt and verification of shipments
  • Work with HR to maintain all plant employee administrative records
  • Oversees machine operations and manages equipment maintenance
  • Implements cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries
  • In conjunction with the President, is responsible for plant level financial management, purchasing, inventory, capital expenditures, etc. also manages and analyzes monthly P&L for performance to budgets
  • Participates on the Senior Management Team having direct impact and influence on company decisions and direction

Knowledge and Skills:

  • At least five years of total hands on supervisory and managerial experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be highly organized and process oriented
  • Self-driven, accountable, high integrity, open communicator, strong work ethic
  • Strong time management skills and ability to handle various issues simultaneously and prioritize
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Intermediate computer skills in programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook are required, fast, and accurate data entry skills
  • Experience in the stone or granite industry considered a very strong asset/REQUIRED
  • Bilingualism considered an asset
