Information Technology Assistant– Student Work Program Job Openings in Saskatoon

This work term runs from October 2020 to February 28, 2021. This is a casual position and has flexibility to work with the student's schedule; working a minimum of four hours per week is required.

This student position will have the opportunity to gain excellent experience in 's Information Technology department while developing the skills necessary to be successful in their future. The position will have an opportunity to improve their teamwork and communication skills, as well as, their digital/technology skills, and leadership capabilities. Reporting to the Director of IT, the incumbent provides support within the IT department while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and careful handling of highly confidential and sensitive information. This position provides support as required and includes the following broad range of accountabilities:

  • Participating in, and learn the fundamentals of Information Technology
  • Handling and processing information with confidentiality and compliance
  • Performing data entry in our IT systems
  • Providing excellent client service and support
  • Assisting with building training resources such as screencasts or electronic/paper-based training documents
  • Installing and configuring workstations including desktops and laptops/docking stations/monitors
  • Assisting with special projects and department initiatives

Eligible participants

  • Must be of First Nations or Inuit descent
  • Registered as full-time students during the preceding academic year and who intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year
  • Be between the ages 15 to 30 inclusive
  • Ordinarily resident on reserve or in recognized First Nation communities or on community lands (currently out of community for education/training purposes)
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada

Required Qualifications:

Must have completed one full year of post-secondary education and be returning to school in the fall of 2020. Prompt, reliable, and exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills, coupled with a high level of confidentiality. Prior experience working with Microsoft Office suite of programs is required.
