Welding Inspector CWB & Coating Inspector NACE. Dual Certified Preferred. Job Openings in Edmonton

Job description

Pro Inspection is looking for Experienced Welding Inspectors and Coating Inspectors with a CWB Level II and a NACE Level II Certificate at a minimum. Inspectors with both CWB and NACE certificates are preferred.

This is for a project located in Edmonton Alberta, and local inspectors to Edmonton will be considered first.

The project will run for approxiametly 8 week and the shifts will be 6 days per week, 10 hours per day.

Project start is mid-October so please respond ASAP if interested.

Below are the qualifications for the roles listed above.

Pipeline Welding Inspector:

The pipeline welding inspector performs QA or QC activities with respect to construction of the pipelines as per the applicable documents.

Performs duties designated by the Chief Inspector in accordance with the job requirements outlined in the assigned activity and the Client Company specifications and codes.

Adheres to and enforces Client Company safety policies.

Becomes thoroughly familiar with the Client Company's contract specifications and enforces them.

Keeps daily log of incidents relating to the construction in the assigned activity.

Enforces Client Company welding procedures, qualifications, and specifications.

Inspects welding technique and equipment.

Inspects all welds visually.

Reviews radio graphic film report daily when required.

Ensures that all rejected welds are repaired and replaced in accordance with Client's specifications.

The following qualifications apply for this role:

Education Industry Certification Required Experience

Application of CSA Z662 Clause 7.10.1.1.

Certification by CWB as mentioned in the CSA W178.2 standard

Technologist plus 8 years of relevant industry experience ISO 9001 certification is not mandatory but will be considered an asset As per CMDS

Pressure equipment/welding trade certification

Trade or CWB (CSA Z662)

API 1169 certification is not required, but will be considered an asset

CWB level II with 2 years of relevant industry experience

Grade school diploma Industry experience

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Proficient in Computer skills

Attention to details.

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

Hours dependent on inclement weather

WHMIS/TDG

Pipeline Construction Safety Training is not mandatory but will be considered an asset.

Pipeline Coating Inspectors

The coatings inspector performs QA or QC activities with respect to the coating applications and ensures that the coating has been performed as per the applicable coating system. The following qualifications apply for this role:

Ensure all work activities are performed in a safe and professional manner within the companies Health and Safety handbook.

Field verify that the construction equipment used, and the amounts of materials installed during construction are captured on the Daily Progress Report for inventory and billing purposes. Using experience and professional judgment inspect the material waste to help reduce any potential loss of materials through the inefficient use of the material by the Other Contractors. Coating Inspectors shall communicate any opportunities to reduce material waste to Gas Company/Lead Inspector and/or Regional Supervisor.

Verify that Contractors are following Company procedures and coating manufacturers' instructions for applying field coatings to pipe, fittings, valves, joints, and other pipeline components.

Verify, prior to use, that all materials to be incorporated into the Projector utilized for testing are properly constructed, rated, and possess proper manufacturer documentation.

Complete and submit Daily Inspection Report forms including but not limited to safety inspection forms, coating inspection forms (pipe coating and repairs, joint coating, jeep calibration and inspection, etc.), trenching and backfill inspection forms, and other construction inspection forms as requested by Company.

Responsible for tracking of all materials and equipment used for pipeline and distribution construction.

Inform Lead Inspector immediately of any safety accidents or concerns, construction deviations or any problems and/or anticipated problems.

Prior to ALL backfills, HOD pull-throughs, or jack and bores the Coating Inspectors shall perform the following:

Visually inspect pipe for noticeable defects to pipe coating.

Visually inspect pipe for gouges, dents, or other imperfections.

Verify all pipe is "jeeped" and holidays properly repaired prior to lowering in trench or pulled back thru the HOD path.

Once cured, verify that all field applied pipe coating meets Company’s mil thickness and manufacturer's hardness specifications:

Education Industry Certification Required Experience

NACE coating inspector program (CIP)

Nace Level 3 certification plus 1-years of relevant Pipeline Experience or,

Nace Level 2 certification plus 3 years of relevant Pipeline Experience or,

Grade school diploma

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Proficient in Computer skills

Attention to details.

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

Hours dependent on inclement weather
