Director of Operations

We are searching for an enthusiastic, multifunctional individual who is looking for the experience and growth opportunity of a lifetime. Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Operations will lead the entire operation of the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise including Rooms Division, F&B Division, The Spa, Engineering, Security and Staff Housing. Through thoughtful and innovative leadership, the successful candidate will continue to nurture and mentor a highly engaged workforce resulting in continued improvements to Guest Service, Financial Results and the consistent delivery of our Brand Promise of Turning Moments into Memories for our Guests.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Assume the responsibilities of the General Manager in his absence Assist in the preparation of the annual Operations Plan and achieve the profit objectives therein Ensure that monthly financial outlooks for Operating Departments including Rooms, F&B, Engineering, Security and Staff Accommodations are accurate and are being achieved.

Play a lead role in yield management for Rooms and Food & Beverage.

Leads all capital projects including development of capital plans and execution of projects

Ensures the consistent implementation and delivery of all Fairmont Service Essentials and Standards

Handles all guest concerns and feedback to ensure effective follow up

Ensures the smooth operation and co-ordination of the hotel through their respective Department Heads (Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food & Beverage, Environmental Systems, and Security)

Ensure our team's commitment to Environmental Stewardship through active leadership on the Environmental Committee, monitoring of NNNEI commitments and interaction with Parks Canada

Assist in staff planning and the maintenance of productivity levels

Completes the Monthend and Forecast Commentary for Corporate Office and Owners

Provides support and assistance as required to the Director of Talent & Culture, Director of Finance & Business support and Director of Sales & Marketing

With the Director of Finance & Business support, reviews all contracts (i.e. cleaning, maintenance & repair, telephones, etc.)

Update and ensure timely awareness of the hotel’s Business Continuity, Emergency and Crisis Management Plans

Provide active leadership in the culture of Health and Safety and accident prevention

Function as key member of the Hotel Executive Committee and Leadership Team

Direct operational needs to ensure compliance with the hotel’s Annual Budget and 5 Year Strategic Plan


Extensive Operations management experience in F&B or Rooms a strong asset.

Clear working knowledge of budget planning & execution

Post secondary diploma/degree in hospitality or university

Proven record to coordinate multiple departments and to achieve goals

Exceptional interpersonal and guest relations skills

Proven team-leader with outstanding motivational skills and coaching ability

Ability to motivate developing leaders to act as entrepreneurs while implementing innovative, profit driven, guest satisfaction oriented solutions
