Town of Sylvan Lake Job Vacancies 2021

UTILITY CLERK - Temporary Term Position ending approximately Sep 1, 2022

Full Time – 35 Hours Per Week

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position is responsible for utility billing and collections for the Town. This includes maintenance of utility accounts, the billing of water, sewer, garbage and recycle services, notices, and collection of outstanding accounts.

Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain Utility customer accounts, and water meter information
• Coordinate water service hook-ups and disconnects with Public Works
• Maintain pre-authorized payment information for utility customers, and process pre-authorized payment batches
• Balance monthly utility listing to general ledger
• Ensure collection of overdue accounts, according to approved procedures and apply penalties as per the by-law
• Excellent interpersonal service skills to assist customers with utility account inquiries

Qualifications:

• RCMP based Criminal Record Check Required
• Accounting Diploma required
• Minimum of three years related experience in an office environment dealing with the public (experience in a Municipal setting or Accounts Receivable is preferred)
• Experience using Diamond/Great Plains software in a municipal environment is considered an asset
• Above average ability to work positively with the public
• Excellent working knowledge of MS 365, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, Wondershare
• Maintain excellent relationships with staff, and public at all times
• Ability to be a self-starter, and work with minimal supervision
• Strong ability to work in a team environment
