The successful candidate will be exposed to a broad range of environmental health activities, including inspections and investigations related to:

  • Food Safety
  • Recreational Water
  • Rabies
  • Health Hazard Management
  • Infection Prevention and Control
  • Tobacco Control
This position will fulfill the field training requirements for Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors. The Public Health Inspector Practicum Placement will shadow Public Health Inspectors for the first four (4) weeks, and then will participate in regular Public Health Inspector’s duties as assigned.
Hours of Work:
Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Flexible working hours are required
Position Effective:
Spring 2020
  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor degree in Environmental health from a recognized university, and
are graduating in Spring 2020
  • No previous Public Health Unit Practicum completed
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage time effectively
  • Maintain annual influenza immunization and adult immunization.
