This is a temporary, full-time position based upon 30 hours per week. Flexibility in scheduling is required. The work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor and may vary according to requirements of responsibility. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break. The operational hours of this facility are 9:00 am – 3:30 pm except for Wednesdays in which we are open until 6:30 pm.

Shifts: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am. to 3:30 p.m.

Start Date: September 14, 2020

End Date: January 08, 2021

Responsibilities
  • Perform receptionist duties by greeting clients, answering the telephone, directing both telephone and in-person inquiries and making appointments
  • Ensure the delivery of services on a continual basis by interviewing clients, determining needs, completing new applications, referrals when required and administering essential assistance
  • Work in conjunction with the Director in the referral of clients to community programs and agencies
  • Pack bags of food daily for clients
  • Assist with arranging local food pick ups
  • Sorting food and stacking shelves in the food bank
  • Photocopying and clerical work required
  • Perform other position related duties as required.
Qualifications

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Completion of Secondary School Diploma
  • Training and/or experience in social services
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, current copy of driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to , in its sole discretion, is required.
  • Must provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to , in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment
  • May require screening through Abuse Registry.
  • Alternative combinations of education and/or experience may be considered.

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

  • Up to one (1) year of prior related experience, including experience working with multi-barriered persons.

  • Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Treat the property of with due care and caution.
  • Lead by example, by demonstrating a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and be flexible in the face of change.

  • Ability to lift/move on a regular basis up to 40 pounds.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and participate as an active and responsible team member in a cooperative team environment.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by ’s health and safety policies and procedures.
