3rd Year Apprentice Job Opening in Mono

Orangeville Volkswagen is looking to hire a Third Year Automotive Apprentice to join the team.

The Apprentice works alongside a Licensed Technician in their own bay. Duties will include observing, assisting and completing various tasks to gain the required skills and knowledge to become a Licensed Technician. As a Third Year Apprentice, you must have completed the Intermediate Automotive Apprenticeship course / school work or the equivalent and be preparing to complete your Advanced Automotive Apprentice course / work or the equivalent.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with diagnosing and repairing vehicles to the manufacture's specifications.
  • Assist with examining customer vehicles and recommend needed service to clients.
  • Perform services based on general maintenance requirements and minor repairs.
  • Perform the tasks described in the repair orders efficiently and accurately.
  • Review vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
  • Perform road tests, as needed, to determine repairs or root cause of repairs required.
  • Maintain and develop skill levels in repair and service of vehicles.
  • Keep up to date with federal and provincial regulations and municipal bylaws, such as those governing the removal of hazardous waste, etc.; understand and adhere to such regulations.
  • Follow the dealership and manufacturer service guidelines.
  • All work performed by an apprentice must be reviewed by a licensed technician prior to returning the vehicle to the customer.
  • Perform other tasks, based on management requirements and instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Registered with the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team, managing his or her time and work flow.
  • Willingness to learn from others and succeed.
  • Able to read, comprehend information and able to understand and follow directions.
  • Able to perform in a high energy, fast paced environment while maintaining a calm demeanour.
  • Possess mechanical aptitude and interest.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Team oriented and enjoys working with others toward a common goal.
  • Flexible and open to change; able to take on special tasks as needed.
  • Must possess a valid G driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
  • Able to operate manual and automatic transmissions.
