Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager the Senior Procurement Specialist will apply industrial expertise, energy and strategic capabilities to deliver Best In Class performance fit for the 21st century.
Irving Shipbuilding is seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist.
This is a permanent, full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia.

  • Developing high performing suppliers and supplier relationships;
  • Analyzing supply market conditions;
  • Development and implementation of commodity sourcing strategies.
  • Understanding the worldwide supply base for commodity groups.
  • Managing and controlling commodity groups for equipment & servicesmeeting cost, quality and stakeholder requests.
  • Leading programs to improve supplier quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Negotiating contracts and long-term supply agreements.
  • Leading Integrated strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier selection.
  • Supporting new product introduction activities including solicitation of vendor furnished information.

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in the Naval Shipbuilding Industry in a Supply Chain Function.
  • University Degree in an Engineering, Business or related subject, or equivalent experience.
  • Procurement/Supply Chain accreditation: SCMP, MCIPS or ISM would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Strong sense of urgency to complete tasks
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Previous exposure to market analytics and insights
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills
