Job Description

Canada is currently recruiting a Calgary based Finance & Performance Analyst, reporting to Supervisor, Commercial Finance. The successful candidate will perform marketing accounting functions related to all commercial operations. This role requires a high level of initiative, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multi-task. The candidate must be able to work effectively with minimum supervision in an open trade floor environment.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Prepare and issue invoices to third parties for monthly commercial settlements, and work with traders/schedulers to settle disputes
  • Working with counterparties to ensure clear receivables and payables for monthly commercial settlements, reviewing and resolving accounts receivables and payables related to settlement.
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations in line with COP policy
  • Assist month end closing process, monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting for the Canada Commercial group, E&P reporting and Houston Commercial group
  • Retrieve, prepare and analyze financial data for statutory, regulatory and other monthly internal volumetric/financial reporting (NEB, AB/BC Provincial Gov’t, DOE)
  • Prepare inter-company transactions and settlements with E&P
  • Strong and meticulous attention to detail
  • Other support work within the Commercial finance team as required


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma or Bachelors degree
  • Minimum 3 years oil and gas experience
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects/priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with various internal and external parties
  • Quick learner; willingness to learn
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of the Commercial business would be an asset
  • Finance designation (CMA, CPA, or CGA)
  • Understanding of financial reporting, income statements, balance sheets
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong SAP user, specifically in finance module
  • Strong Excel, BI skills are an asset
