Project Coordinator Job Openings in Victoria

As the Project Coordinator for the Adaptation Leadership Network Project (funded by NRCan BRACE Fund) through the ResiliencebyDesign (RbD) Research Lab you will play a major role in implementing and administering the 3-year project. You will be expected to be well versed in the practical aspects of the Lab’s focus and be responsible for implementing and managing administrative processes for the project. As the Project Coordinator you will need to be an independent self-starter who is able to help administer the project and interact with the various internal (RRU) and external stakeholders (NRCan, BC Climate Action Secretariat, various Professional Assocations) of the project. As well, you will be the prime contact for requests for information from Lab staff, Faculty , post docs working in the Lab, contractors working on the project, stakeholders and partners, and the University support areas on a daily basis.

You will work directly with the Director of the RbD Lab to provide administrative leadership, ensuring that the planned activities in the project are effectively managed to support the achievement of the project’s goals.

Job Requirements

This position requires a highly motivated and self-directed person who can organize support staff work processes and workloads, in addition to scheduling independent activities. Active participation will be encouraged in Project meetings with ongoing dialogue for improvement.

  • An undergraduate degree or other relevant educational credential (college certificate or diploma) plus 3-5 years of related experience in the administration of academic programs (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Demonstrated financial coordination and contract administration skills and experience; accounting skills are an asset
  • Ability to coach/mentor and provide day-to-day direction to project support and research staff, and support for their recruitment, selection, orientation and training
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills
  • Office management skills and experience, including developing, implementing and monitoring policy and procedures
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities, including editing skills
  • Strong interpersonal development and leadership capabilities including networking and advocacy skills
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and team building skills; ability to act with tact and diplomacy under pressure
  • Knowledge and understanding of the University’s requirements, methods, culture and processes, as well as knowledge or experience in research and adult learning principles
  • Strong technical background with computer abilities such as Microsoft Office suite of programs as well as other RRU systems (e.g., Agresso, Sharepoint)
  • Solid analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work flexible hours on a pre-planned basis, including evening and weekend hours. Ability to travel to domestic locations as required by the project.
Additional Information This is a temporary, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week for a term from March 2020 until March 2022. This position has been evaluated at MPT-A with a salary range of $54,068 (minimum) to $63,609 (midpoint) to $73,150 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
