Children’s Home Care is a multi-disciplinary team with RN, SW, RT, PT, OT, SLP, and Therapy assistants who collaborate to deliver services to children from 0 – 20 years old with a wide variety of medical conditions, including children with complex health needs. The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is responsible for providing and facilitating education, based on adult education principles, for staff within Children’s Home Care and our support service providers in the community to ensure that clinical competencies and organizational standards/practices are maintained. The CNE uses the principles of adult learning to assess staff educational and professional development needs, and to plan, implement and evaluate initiatives. The CNE facilitates, coordinates, and supports the implementation of educational initiatives for orientation, continuing education and in-service in relation to changes in policy, procedure, protocols, and technology to promote clinical competence of staff. The CNE collaborates with the Manager to objectively monitor, evaluate, and documents the learning process and learning outcomes of staff. The CNE participates on committees and working groups to plan, develop, and implement new clinical policies, procedures, practices and initiatives, and to provide input to broader Home Living initiatives. The CNE acts as a mentor and role model to all staff for professional development and clinical competency.Description:
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life SupportHealth Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).Additional Required Qualifications:
Four years current experience in the care of pediatric clients with the understanding of Home Living approach to service delivery. Experience using the principles of adult learning to conduct education sessions, in-services and program development implementation and evaluation is required. Baccalaureate or Master's degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to pediatrics nursing will be considered.Preferred Qualifications:
Five yrs. current nursing practice in the care of pediatrics, 2 yrs. CNE practice. Experience in developing education materials for client, staff and community partners. Previous mentorship experience in direct clinical skill development, case management, and electronic documentation. Strong general computer skills and Meditech documentation experience. McMaster Case Management training and understanding of the AHS Continuing Care Case Management Competency Framework.
