The Senior Technologist is a Nuclear Medicine Technologist and in addition to regular duties and responsibilities of a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, the Senior Technologist is responsible for the overall technical quality in the modality. The Senior Technologist is responsible to ensure excellent image quality in the modality as well as overall quality of care in a patient and family focused environment. This position plays an important role in achieving excellence in patient satisfaction. This role is also required to stay up to date on the latest technical and legislative advancements pertaining to the specific modality as well as maintaining current modality specific imaging protocols. It is expected that this individual spends 90% of their time as a technologist and 10% of their time dedicated to the responsibilities of this role. This person will also serve as Radiation Safety Officer Contribute to safe, quality care by
Managing a workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Addressing and resolving issues in a productive, respectful manner.
Exercising sound professional judgment and using best practice guidelines.
Contributing to a safe, inclusive environment for all through compliance with patient and staff safety policies and procedures.
What must you have?
Diploma (Degree) in Nuclear Medicine Technology from an accredited institution
Must be a registered member in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
Minimum 6 years of current Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience.
Must have extensive experience performing Bone Mineral Density examinations
Completion of a CNSC approved Radiation Safety Officer course
What else do you bring?
Act as a technical resource for the modality
Provide clinical expertise to modality staff
Mentor staff regarding patient care and clinical practice
Act as the Clinical Coordinator for Nuclear Medicine students
Oversee safety of staff, patients and visitors in the Nuclear Medicine environment particularly as relates to Radiation Safety
Perform duties of the Radiation Safety Officer for the hospital
Promote best practice and evidence based best practice in the modality
Maintain current knowledge of legislation and best practice pertaining to Nuclear Medicine.
Ensure imaging protocols are current and maintained in collaboration with Nuclear Medicine Radiologist lead
Research latest advancements pertaining the modality and make recommendations to the Manager and Patient Care Coordinator
Ensure necessary inventory and supplies for the modality are maintained at required and established levels
Create an environment that promotes continuous quality improvement to achieve established clinical benchmarks and outcomes
Foster relationships with the clinical team including physicians and across the organization
Demonstrates excellence in interpersonal communication, coaching, mentoring and team building skills
Well-developed ability to organize daily departmental activities and priorities
Possess highly developed analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
Able to work independently and as part of the inter-professional team
Possess the ability to introduce and effectively facilitate change
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, support and critical analysis in stressful, complex clinical and emotional situations
Proven ability to work within a computerized environment

Membership with the CAMRT/OAMRT
Previous leadership experience within a Nuclear Medicine department
Previous recent experience in a hospital setting
OAR ADT certification
