Job Summary

The Lead, Specialty Pharmacy Operational Excellence will be responsible for implementing small to large scale, multi-functional projects in support of pharmacy initiatives on a national scale. The Lead, Operational Excellence will have to able to work with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment while supporting the organizational culture of continuous process improvement. As an integral part of the pharmacy operations team, the duties may include, but are not limited to, creating a Needs Assessment, High-Level Business Requirements, Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA), Risk Mitigation Strategy, Workflow Design documentation (Process Maps), Project Plan development and maintenance, Timeline Adherence, Identifying and Negotiating with Vendors, Change Management, Continuous Quality Improvement, and Project Deliverable Analysis.

Duties and responsibilities generally include but are not limited to:

PLANNING AND STRATEGY

Develops and recommends short-term and long-term objectives for the businesses that support the achievement of the company’s goals. Reviews these objectives on an ongoing basis to ensure that they continue to be relevant and appropriate.

Performs in-depth business analysis and mapping to identify areas for improvement.

Manages the establishment of the policies, plans, tactics, practices and procedures necessary to achieve the approved objectives.

Implement plans, monitors their progress and takes corrective action as required.

Conduct verification and needs assessment of project deliverables


FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Monitors project budget against plan on a monthly basis and prepares analysis if established thresholds are not met
Maintains updated project budgets reflecting actual costs & projections through the implementation and warranty period
Understands contractual obligations and measures performance against them

INTERNAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
Acts as primary point of contact for the internal stakeholders during implementations
Manages multi-functional internal teams and facilitates communication across internal partners
Provides Management Team with proactive consultative solutions related to achieving program objectives
PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Responsible for obtaining approval from the Senior Director, National Pharmacy Operations to clearly define Project Scope
Responsible for managing project timeline, cross-functional teams, and inter-departmental communication
Maintains Project Plans and tracking logs as appropriate
Responsible for identifying project priorities communicating priorities to internal team
Ensures project timelines are met by through rapid problem solving where ever necessary

Manages development of all program documentation prior to production release including Standard Operating Procedures, Statement of Work and Training Materials


WORKFORCE & ADMINISTRATIVE

Determines the human resources required to carry out the work. Recommends structural and organizational changes when necessary
Makes recommendations regarding the allocation of resources
Provides monthly status reports to ensure senior level management visibility to project and status
Responsible for building team environment with internal partners
Manages conflict resolution to ensure successful outcomes

The Individual

Minimum Requirements

  • PMP Certification
  • Six Sigma Certification
  • Demonstrated project management experience from project initiation to completion
  • Experienced in developing and managing complex processes
  • Experienced in launching a new service/initiative/program preferred
  • Understanding of the business processes and integration with cross-functional departments

General professional office environment.
20% Travel may be required

Additional Knowledge & Skills

Licensed Pharmacist would be an asset

Experience with IT related systems and implementation of technology in the pharmacy workflow

Collaborative, customer focused, and able to create visible value within the organization
Ability to manage multiple projects toward effective solutions and according to budget and timelines
Experience in Budget Modeling and Forecasting
Excellent Project Management and Organization Skills
Detailed understanding and experience with process documentation and improvement
Proven ability to take an opportunity, research and suggest solutions
Very Strong Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio and Project
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to develop strong team relationships and bring individuals together to focus on team goals

Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to forge ahead on initiatives not done before recognizing there will be obstacles to overcome along the way
