What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Reports to the Quality Lead and ensures quality control activities at site and shop are performed as per company, client, code, and regulatory requirements
  • Review and understand project drawings, documents and specifications and determine product quality requirements.
  • Interpret welding procedures, procedure qualifications and welder performance qualifications to determine that they meet the requirements for the welding activity.
  • Preparation of detailed inspection plans for new construction, repair / alteration activities.
  • Conduct visual inspection on received materials, fit up, welding and final inspection.
  • Ensure implementation of project, code and regulatory requirements as applicable to the job.
  • Build and maintain turnover job books.
  • Inspection of flanged joints, faces, assembly and torqueing / tensioning activities.
  • Work with NDE Technicians, provide appropriate NDE requests, and ensure that sufficient NDE samples, as required by the code or client have been completed.
  • Review the NDE reports and communicate results to Site Managers.
  • Witness hydro tests, leak tests.
  • Provide thorough and clear reports detailing the results of the inspections.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with client inspectors, client project managers, Authorised Inspectors, and jurisdictional inspectors.

The Experience You Will Bring Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CWB Level 2 Certification with at least one ASME pressure code endorsement.
  • Minimum of 3 years doing Quality Control activities in pressure vessels, boilers or pressure piping.
  • Current visual acuity test
  • MS Office, including Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • Effective communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal.
  • Through knowledge of Alberta (or applicable jurisdictional) requirements with respect to pressure equipment.
  • Knowledge in application and compliance requirements of regulatory codes (ASME, CSA, API, NBIC).
  • Knowledge of NDE methods and their application.
What Will Put You Ahead

  • Equivalent welding inspection certificates like AWS CWI may be considered at Quality Lead’s discretion and based on project requirements
  • Knowledge of pdf markup software like BlueBeam will be an advantage

Physical Requirements:

  • Candidates must be able to work long hours and all shift schedules that may require up to twelve hours a day, seven days a week for extended durations.
  • Candidates also must be able to work in confined spaces and be capable of climbing ladders, scaffolds and working at heights.
  • Capable of working in outdoor weather and potential extreme environmental conditions.
  • Respiratory protection fit testing is required.
