Vocal Tutorial Coach (Part-time) Job Openings in Oakville

Hours/Week: Varied
Hours: Monday-Saturday, 8:00am-10:00pm
Application Details: This is a temporary part-time position that may continue up to April, 2021
Vocal Tutorial Coaches are leading industry professionals who work with the Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance students in one-on-one tutorial sessions. They provide ongoing personal training in vocal technique and further support student's work in classes, production, as well as their creative projects (i.e. Creative Cabaret Projects, Production, etc.).
Specific Responsibilities Include:
The person in this position may be required to engage in service to the Program, sit in admissions auditions, participate in Department meetings, attend creative projects and performances, and grade student assessments each semester. Qualified candidates will have an established record of excellence in musical theatre or vocal music, and a strong teaching pedagogy. Candidates will demonstrate a strong understanding of performance requirements and repertoire demands of the professional musical theatre industry. Candidates will be committed evidence-based voice pedagogy and demonstrate expertise in at least one vocal style/technique (i.e. classical, musical theatre, CCM), and a passion, appreciation, and curiosity in regard to other vocal styles. Candidates will be committed to openness and inclusion by employing pedagogy that values diversity of student scholarship, learning, and creative performance. Candidates will demonstrate outstanding versatility as performer and pedagogue. They will be dedicated to working collaboratively with others and building community and committed to excellence in college teaching.
Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in vocal performance, musical theatre, voice pedagogy or a related field is preferred;
  • Related professional experience (i.e. performance, music direction, etc.);
  • Basic piano skills;
  • Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry preferred;
  • Strong network of contacts with other professionals in the musical theatre industry;
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills;
  • Committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment.
