Clinical Research Assistant I Job Openings in Ottawa

The purpose of this position is to assist Dr. Luke Lavallee and Dr. Rodney Breau and the urologic oncology research team with various facets of urologic oncology research. The successful applicant will join a growing team and will be involved in many facets of research. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other research assistants, research coordinators, staff physicians, and other clinical and non-clinical staff.

Principle tasks will include local management of several national databases. This will require chart review (electronic medical records) to extract relevant data for entry. The successful candidate will also assist the research program in complying with Ottawa Hospital Science Network Research Ethics Board (OSHN-REB) requirements. Produce periodic reports to summarize database variables. Assisting in in protocol and ethics amendment and renewal reports. The role may also include direct patient contact to assist with ongoing clinical trials.

Basic Requirements:
  • General knowledge of clinical research
  • Very high attention to detail
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Able to self-motivate and work independently while meeting internal goals and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Evidence of training certification in Tri-Council Policy Statement -2 (TCPS-2) and the International Conference on Harmonisation – Good Clinical Practice Guidelines (ICH-GCP)
  • Evidence of training in Food and Drug Regulations, Division 5, and/or Device Regulations, as applicable
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High computer literacy and experience with computer applications, i.e. Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health science related field
  • A minimum of 1 year of previous clinical research or clinical data entry experience
  • Previous experience in a hospital or health care environment is considered an asset
  • Basic medical knowledge and familiarity with medical terminology
  • Previous experience with database and statistics software

Contract Details:
This is a 1- year full-time contract with possibility of renewal
Min: $ 18.009/hr. – Max: $ 22.924/hr.
