Job Description

General description

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide quality delivery of assigned courses within the Indigenous Community Support Worker program, utilizing a variety of instruction strategies, techniques and delivery methods to meet the individual learning needs of the students, in a safe and civil learning environment. Instructors are responsible for teaching assigned courses in accordance with course competencies, taking daily attendance, grading class tests, assignments and exams, and providing students meaningful feedback that allows them to expand their learning. The selected candidate will also be expected to deliver CSW classes within the context of Indigenous education programs, in collaboration with the Indigenous Programs Manager.


As modules in this program are diverse, the following qualifications will be considered:

  • Bachelor of Social Work or Education with 24 months' experience OR
  • Teacher Assistant or Community Support Worker Diploma with 24 months' experience OR
  • 36 months' of teaching AND 36 months of relevant work experience in the CSW field
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation and group facilitation skills
  • Ability to motivate, engage and inspire students

  • Salary/hourly rate is based on an individual base of professional and adult teaching experience, and education and certifications
  • Full time position: 40 hours per week – 8am to 5pm
  • Part time position: 20 hours per week – 8am- 12pm or 1-5pm
  • Monday – Friday excluding all statutory holidays. Full Time position: 2 weeks holidays per year of employment including all statutory holidays and Good Friday.
