Millwright Apprentice Job Openings in Oshawa

Our AGS Oshawa team is looking for a Millwright Apprentice to meet the challenges of an established manufacturing operation, as well as new product launches. The right candidate is an individual who is keen to learn and grow in our dynamic environment. This position is a key part of a team committed to producing and delivering high quality product to one of North America's largest automakers. JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for installing, maintaining machinery and supporting structures efficiently, safely by following the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and in accordance with the plant standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Protect self and others by performing job functions in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements for a safe working environment.
  • Give and receive oral and written instructions; read technical literature and manufacturer's specifications; write maintenance and job reports to company requirements; use computer and job maintenance software for specific applications.
  • Read drawings and schematics; interpret manufacturer's manuals, specifications, and drawing symbols.
  • Use of hand and power tools.
  • Set up and use machines tools.
  • Use and care of precision measuring equipment.
  • Select and use materials and fasteners.
  • Select and apply lubricants and greases for specific applications.
  • Also responsible for assembling, erecting, locating and dismantling scaffolds, lifting devices and elevating platforms.
  • Plan lifts; perform calculations using load charts; select and use correct rigging/hoisting equipment; inspect and maintain rigging/hoisting equipment; use hand and radio signals.
  • Install and maintain material handling systems.
  • Install and maintain power transmission systems.
  • Install and maintain hydrodynamic and hydrostatic pumps.
  • Install, commission and maintain prime movers and machinery
  • Set up and operate welding equipment.
  • Identify and apply bearing materials, fits and tolerances.
  • Install single and multi-stage fan and blower systems.
  • Install and maintain pneumatic systems.
  • Install and maintain hydraulic systems
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Completion of academic standards prescribed by the regulations for the trade will be considered an asset.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing facility is an asset.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, as required and complete daily activities according to schedule.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to meet all physical demands of the job, including, but not limited to, heavy lifting, standing for long periods of time, working in hot and cold environments, rotating shifts.
  • Must agree and follow the standards of apprenticeship.
