Join Our Alberta COVID-19 Exposure Response Team (ACERT)! We are in a global pandemic and Alberta needs Registered Nurses to help with the response. Under the direction of Communicable Disease Control, the Registered Nurse – COVID Exposure Response Team is responsible for follow up of COVID-19 lab confirmed, probable and suspect cases and their contacts. On this virtual team, the role includes: conducting investigations and reporting COVID-19 cases legislated in the Public Health Act of Alberta and collaborating with Public Health and other health care providers in the public health management of COVID-19. Shifts are 0700-1515 or 1445-2300 hours seven days per week.Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life SupportHealth Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).Additional Required Qualifications:
Public Health, Infection Prevention Control or Case Management within the last 7 years. Completion of a senior practicum placement within Public Health within the last 2 years may be considered. Ability to complete telephone interviews and electronic clinical documentation for extended periods of time. Demonstrated competency with computer applications to complete clinical documentation on web-based computer programs in a supported environment. Demonstrate high standards of professionalism and diligence with the ability to work in a fast paced, stressful, challenging environment. Exhibits effective interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain collaborative working relationships within the interdisciplinary team. Be self-directed, action-oriented, demonstrate quick problem solving abilities and critical thinking skills. Exhibits strong time management and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a stressful and evolving work environment. Exhibits strong ability for attention to detail. Demonstrated empathetic disposition. Exhibits exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Comfort working in a virtual environment. Demonstrated ability to work virtually for up to 7.75 hour shifts.Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) year experience in communicable disease and/or public health in last 7 years. Experience with contact tracing (i.e. epidemiology). Case management experience. Knowledge and experience in infection prevention control.
