Student Support Advisor, Digital Learning

(12670) POSITION SUMMARY
The Student Support Advisor exercises sound judgement while coordinating and modifying services to ensure the needs of a diverse clientele are met. The incumbent provides services to both internal and external parties of the College. The candidate will provide detailed information about the College’s programs, services and procedures around online learning and the use of the College’s Learning Management System (LMS- Blackboard), and support the deployment and maintenance of the Explorance Digital SFQ product. The Student Support Advisor assists and orientates current students and faculty to the effective use of the LMS by responding to enquiries and providing comprehensive information. The incumbent plays an integral role in the development of print and electronic resources including but not limited to tip sheets, demos and orientation sessions. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and scheduling societal projects, leading student workshops and other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will possess a 2 year college diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of two years practical experience in a direct customer service role, preferably in an academic environment. In addition, the successful candidate will possess a demonstrated use of initiative both in planning of work and in taking a pro-active approach to addressing customer concerns; practical experience in a service environment that includes some financial transactions; excellent interpersonal, listening , and customer service skills; consistent attention to detail; demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks, interruptions and deadlines; excellent oral and written communication skills; computer literacy with knowledge of email software; proficiency in Windows and various Microsoft Office tools; basic knowledge of Learning Management Systems, medium proficiency with Microsoft Access and databases would be an asset; excellent telephone skills; flexibility in working as a team member or independently. A working knowledge of Adobe products (for example Illustrator) and e-learning software authoring tools and ’s registration systems would be considered an asset.
