CITY OF BRANTFORD Recruitment 2021

The Museum Assistant will perform a variety of duties including but not limited to; conducting in-depth museum tours, participating in museum programs and services, developing and delivering a day-long Children's Day Camp, assisting in general housekeeping of the historic site i.e., cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, garbage disposal, laundry and ironing. This position is physically demanding and involves lifting, bending, standing and sitting for long periods of time.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Working towards a degree or diploma in Museum Studies, History, Education or related field

• An interest in local and/or 19th century history

• Ability to express oneself and interact competently and confidently with supervisors, co-workers and museum patrons of various ages

• Able to learn and appreciate required information in a relatively short period of time, and have the ability to undertake assigned tasks with minimal supervision

• Cash handling experience

• Ability to work in a team environment, accept and follow verbal and written instructions, and complete duties as assigned to an acceptable standard with minimal supervision

• Follow all City of Brantford Health and Safety Policies and Procedures

• Possess the skills and abilities to perform the duties listed above

• A valid "G2" Ontario Driver's License in good standing during the course of employment

• A valid Standard First Aid Certificate with a level "C" CPR is mandatory for this student position and must be submitted with your application

• Applicants must submit a current Vulnerable Sector Police Check (dated within the past 3 months) from their local police service for approval by the Corporation prior to commencing employment

• Students must be returning to full-time studies in the fall and show proof of enrollment or a valid student card upon application submission

• Interviews for this position will commence February 2021
