We are looking for a Production Manager to join our Manufacturing team based out of our Vancouver factory location. Reporting to the Vice President of Manufacturing Operations, this role is responsible for the day-to-day operations and production of the factory including production planning, office support processes and productivity improvement, product quality and employee’s safety.
Working in close partnership with the Manufacturing Operations team, the manager coordinates priorities with our sales channels (i.e. retail operations, group & fundraising, and digital) to meet year-round and seasonal production requirements, delivering at least a 98% daily fill rate, while maintaining shelf life standards. They proactively plan for future requirements by identifying capacity issues both in process and/or people and creates plans to address those constraints.
The key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the factory by modeling the behavior of respect and support in leadership of the team of supervisors, production office support staff, and unionized employees;
  • Oversees the production planning process including short term and long-term production plans, employee requirements to support seasonal forecasts and ongoing sales in all sales channels;
  • Visibly demonstrates a passion for continuous improvement of all factory processes to improve overall cost and to optimize company assets and human resources; monitors daily production; identifies process and productivity improvements and leads projects to create better efficiency;
  • Actively coaches’ supervisors to foster a positive and productive, focusing on clear communication and accountability;
  • Plans for future needs; creates training opportunities for employees to support production requirements and provides learning opportunities, methods or materials, to increase the skill set of factory employees;
  • Manage requirements and workforce planning for all factory departments and monitor retention and turnover;
  • Communicate, model and consistently apply company values, vision, policies and procedures;
  • Set annual operational goals, objectives and action plans with employees and maintain accountability for objectives in support of corporate objectives;
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational standards of work practice, policies and legal regulations;
  • Monitor, report, and action key performance indicators of production performance; and
  • Other duties as assigned
We would like to hear from candidates who possess the following:
  • At least five years of factory/manufacturing/production management experience;
  • Experience working within a unionized manufacturing environment;
  • Bachelor Degree in related discipline (i.e. engineering, etc.)
  • Proven ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of an organization in person, in writing, and in digital formats.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting; adaptable, creative, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills;
  • Exceptional leadership skills, including experience successfully building, developing, and motivating high-quality professional staff;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills;
  • Experience implementing practical lean manufacturing would be a strong asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
