Job Summary

A BI & Reporting analyst is a data specialist, who contributes to the organizational improvement of by gathering and analyzing data, preparing reports, and introducing process improvements throughout the reporting process. They have excellent analytical and technical skills, in addition to a keen ability to determine specifications and standards for business reporting and maintaining data integrity.

The BI & Reporting Analyst delves into our data, past and present, to develop crucial metrics and reporting functionality that better informs and optimizes key businesses decisions across the organization. They build reports, dashboards and scorecards that deliver and process vital data to business partners across the enterprise.

This position will execute on all internal and client-facing reporting requirements, that are required to satisfy contractual SLAs, billing requirements and KPIs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain strong relationships and work closely with stakeholders to understand business objectives and develop valuable reporting and provide ad-hoc data extracts
  • Collaborate in small groups to gather business information needs from various teams. Identify business objectives and process workflows, gather requirements from stakeholders, translate requirements into technical specification, create user stories.
  • Extract and merge data sets from multiple data sources. Perform data cleansing, transformation, exploration and analysis
  • Produce specialized reporting packages, dashboards and scorecards for businesses
  • Support day-to-day requests for data analysis and reports
  • Use advanced techniques, conduct in-depth analytics for strategic initiatives as directed by the management.
  • Work side-by-side with the business stakeholders, iterate the analytical work in an agile fashion to deliver insights.
  • Work in a self-motivated proactive manner, maintaining a clear sense of work priorities and commitment to deadlines.
  • Work in a team-based environment. Exchanging information, ideas and providing guidance, both within and across other teams/departments (Order desk, Service, Warehouse, Config Center, Finance, etc.). Maintaining an approachable, responsive attitude.
  • Strong understanding of Order Management cycle with the ability to understand client specific requirements, implementing processes to support client needs- capturing related information within Order Management System for reporting purposes.
  • Manage multiple project simultaneously while exhibiting professionalism to ensure an incredible stakeholder experience.
  • Participate in the ongoing development of tools and supporting processes.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Information Systems, Business, Data Analytics or related field
  • 3+ years experience in reporting, business intelligence, data analytics or similar role
  • Industry experience within Supply Chain and Logistics is an asset
  • Industry experience within Technology products OEM, VARs, etc. is an asset
  • Have worked in various ERP/CRM, Order Management, Warehouse Management Systems
  • Expert level skills in Excel and other MS Office tools.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite – ability to create trend analysis charts, presentations, etc.
  • Proficient in SAP Crystal Reports
  • Experience working with tools / systems including SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Oracle BI, Qlik Sense, etc. is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the financial/banking industry helpful
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all types of personalities, both oral and written
  • Ability to work and manage in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer facing/customer service skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability and experience in applying strong business case analysis to new/existing initiatives and/or large project opportunities; data-driven approach
  • Self-motivated, well organized and able to take ownership
  • Demonstrated success with strategic analytical projects, working with various stakeholders across the business areas.
  • Meets established expectations and takes responsibility for achieving results; encourages others to do the same.
  • Strong communication, documentation, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure balancing multiple deadlines while effectively handling stressful situations, and work with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to manage multiple initiatives effectively, meeting quality and timelines on a consistent basis.
  • Has experience in developing standard operating procedures and best practices.
  • Consistently demonstrates leadership skills
  • General working knowledge of end user technology (hardware and software), within the financial and insurance sector
  • Experience in database systems including data warehouses and multi-dimensional analytic solutions.
  • Experience working with various data types.
  • Experience in scripting and programming foundations is an asset
  • Good working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles is an asset
