Why We Need You:
The Content Creator and Presenter is responsible for pitching, planning, coordinating, producing and presenting video content for all The Weather Network platforms (TV, web, mobile, and over the top streaming). You will be on the frontlines, producing live TV content, tracking active weather leveraging our state of the art storm tracking technology, actively producing content across our social platforms and innovating new ways of storytelling within an evolving TV/Video landscape.
What's the Day to Day Look Like:

  • Increase our audience engagement on TV, it’s all about engagement!
  • Produce video content beyond our TV platforms which include all digital platforms following our video strategy.
  • Produce and present many types of videos for a diverse range of clients including TV, Digital and Sales/sponsorship opportunities
  • Present both live action and near-live content
  • Create maps and graphics to illustrate weather conditions using Baron weather software.
  • Actively engage in all social media platforms consistently helping to grow Reach
  • Produce audio content including our second audio program and voice-enabled services like Alexa, Google Home, Homepod etc.
  • Present the weather forecast for external partners such as CBC and AMI.
  • Engage in opportunities to develop original content and concepts for TV.
  • Plan, oversee and take responsibility for all aspects of the content, ensuring high standards are met.
  • Daily creation of weather news segments and other feature-related segments that will be leveraged across all-platforms.
  • Continuously monitor information sources and weather data to ensure the accurate, credible and timely presentation and production of video content
  • Monitor emerging technologies and trends and investigate ways to incorporate within our TV and Digital properties
  • Participate in regular air checks, team meetings and Quality Assurance sessions when scheduled.
  • Prolonged hours during active weather may be required
  • May be required to work on special projects including feature production and promotional content
Qualifications:
  • College diploma or university degree in Communications/Journalism/Television Production
  • Degree in Meteorology is preferred
  • Videography and editing skills are an asset.
  • Experience with live video feeds
  • You have a valid driver’s license in good standingthis is a must have!
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in TV and Digital newsrooms, understanding of digital platform and video influence
  • You have a flexible schedule! Severe weather creates a 24/7 environment
