Support Staff Full-time Temporary Replacement Appendix D Contract Position (February 17, 2020 to September 17, 2021) Full-time Support Staff will be given first consideration


We require a qualified individual to join the Student Financial Services team to serves as the departmental expert for all scholarships, bursaries and awards, providing advice on complex issues and developing departmental policy and procedures where required.

  • Responds to inquiries regarding scholarships and awards from internal and external parties
  • Interviews students with special circumstances and provides information on accessibility to financial aid programs
  • First point of contact for front line staff that need additional assistance with difficult student award-related issues
  • Acts as department expert on all merit and need-based awards, including SAG and urgent need bursaries, offered at the College
  • Provides advice and guidance on complex inquiries, documentation requirements, reviews etc.
  • Acts as resource for internal parties, such as the Advancement Office, the International Office, Department chairs, Deans and Program coordinators
  • Takes a lead role in the development of the Awards module in the current student information system
  • Together with the Associate Registrar, develops and updates policy for bursaries that are funded through the TSA fund to ensure the College is in compliance with Ministry guidelines
  • Assists the Associate Registrar in monitoring all budgets and spending for all scholarships, bursaries and awards
  • Coordinates the College’s Work Study Program, ensuring that all processes are completed in a timely manner
  • Reviews, assesses, approves or rejects student work study applications
  • Liaises, monitors and acts as a resource for College departments approved for Work Study funding
  • Liaises with internal parties on all scholarship, bursary and awards communications
  • Designs new, and updates existing, publications and presentations on all Financial Aid topics, including Awards, OSAP and student budgeting
  • Manages and maintains the SFS website and makes recommendations for web site design and content improvements
  • Participates in associations, such as the Ontario Association of Financial Aid Administrators and stays current on scholarships and needs-based award guidelines, OSAP policy and Financial Aid trends

  • Three-year Degree/ Diploma with an area of focus on Accounting, Business, Public Policy, or Management Studies
  • Minimum five years of experience in a financial aid office, including experience with scholarships, awards and bursaries
  • Experience working with computer applications associated with the administration of OSAP, scholarship and bursaries, and take a lead role on system development
  • Ability to handle stressful situations effectively and work well under pressure while applying good judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, adhering to established practices, procedures and policies in an environment in a team setting
  • Possess excellent human and public relations skills and ability to speak with large groups of people
  • Ability to organize departmental workload in a logical systematic manner adhering to internal and external deadlines in a high-volume work environment
  • Ability to interpret government policy and procedure manuals
