Reporting to the Director of Mobility, as the Manager of Calgary Parking you will be accountable for and oversee the strategic direction and operational management of the Division in alignment with the Corporate Strategy and Department goals. As a member of the Mobility Management Team, you will be expected to foster an inclusive leadership approach that promotes equity, diversity and inclusion, as well as psychological and physical safety. As a strategic decision-maker, you will possess political acumen and have experience in leading transformational change and enabling innovation. Primary duties include:

  • Determine and implement strategy and direction for Calgary Parking (including budgeting, strategic planning, project sponsorship, enabling and responding to Council direction and matters, internal coordination with other City units, connecting with external partners).
  • Address operational issues, monitor financial returns, performance metrics, identify and implement efficiencies and customer service improvements.
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop a team of direct and indirect reports.
  • Develop and maintain the Life safety, regulatory and legal compliance programs across the parking portfolio.
  • Manage off-street City-owned parking facilities as well as on-street parking, The City’s Impound Lot, and parking on behalf of third-party clients
  • Facilitate a safe transportation system through parking management and compliance
  • Generate an annual financial return to fund City operations and initiatives
  • Support community initiatives and support businesses through space use and product offerings.
  • Plan and develop future parking facilities in alignment with City policies.
  • Provide parking enforcement to support temporary works and events in the street space.
  • Support statutory legislation of the corporation and relevant bylaws.
  • Provide expert advice on parking matters for the public, Council and key stakeholders.
  • A related degree combined with at least 10 years of progressively more senior and diverse work experience. Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • A Master’s in business administration (MBA) would be an asset.
  • Experience and success in creating and executing a strategic vision and direction for a complex organization or division, ideally in a service-based environment is a preferred asset.
  • Public sector experience, particularly municipal government experience in a large, multi-union environment, is a preferred asset.
  • Aligning with City corporate values, you will have demonstrated success in building, developing and leading strong teams, leading and managing change, developing and using metrics to improve organizational performance, deploying resources to achieve effective and efficient outcomes, and establishing and maintaining strong and positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, stakeholders, and/or elected officials.

Compensation: Level H $112,611179,517 per annum (New Rates) Days of Work: This position works a 5 day work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
