Journeyman Pipefitter Job Opening in Edmonton

Reporting to the Foreman, the Journeyman Pipefitter assumes responsibility for all general pipefitting duties required on industrial scope construction projects. They will ensure work tasks are performed safely in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and company policies and that work is performed with a high level of quality and timeliness.


This position is based 90 kms west of Edmonton on a client site.


Working Conditions

  • 4 days/week, 10 hours/day

  • Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions

  • Working at heights

  • Working in and around noise and dust

  • Must be clean shaven

  • Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.

  • LOA not provided

Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, bend and fit various types of piping systems.

  • Maintain and repair piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals or fuel used in heating, treatment, cooling, lubricating and other processes.

  • Maintain and repair pressurized piping systems, valves and components.

  • Hydro test, leak test, and air test piping systems to prove integrity.

  • Install fabricated pipe spools within structural steel modular assemblies, adding designed supports as required.

  • Thread, bolt up and torque various piping connections.

  • Accurately perform dimensioning and layout.

  • Working knowledge of engineering document such as piping isometrics, general arrangements, P&ID and specifications.

  • Maintain all tools, work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.

  • Read and interpret client and company supplied construction fabrication drawings and specifications.

  • Ensure work areas are kept clean and free of hazards.

  • Ensure tools and equipment are returned to job boxes and tool cribs.

  • Report all incidents, “near miss” incidents including damages/non-damage, injury/non-injury incidents.

  • Review and participate in the preparation of safe work practices/procedures as required.

  • Other tasks and labor duties as required on the jobsite.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Pipefitter ticket

  • Valid driver’s licence

  • CSTS-0.9

  • First Aid

  • Valid AWP and/or Fall Arrest an asset

  • Experience shutdown/turnaround and maintenance environments

  • Power generation facility experience an asset

  • Victaulic/rigid fitting, grooving and installation experience an asset

  • Familiarity with B31.3 and B31.1 code

  • Ability to take direction and follow through on instructions

  • Positive attitude to safety

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements

  • Stand or walk for long periods of time

  • Ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time

  • Ability to lift up to 25kg

  • Climbing stairs/ladders regularly

  • Exposure to hazards such as heights, power tools, slips, falls, falling objects, and sharp hand tools
