In the Lab Automation team, our contribution is to make great products to increase lab productivity and enable scientists to generate quality results and focus on their science. We’re now looking for someone who can help us increase our impact by developing partnerships to make our products available to more customers around the world.

That’s where you come in

As our new Market Development Specialist for Lab Automation you’ll be taking on a dynamic role that will require flexibility, inventiveness, and initiative.

You will be working with our Senior Market Development Manager to maintain and improve existing partnerships as well as identify and develop new ones to generate mutual revenue growth. The role will ensure that partners understand and engage in the long-term vision of Lab Automation and that we work collaboratively to establish best practices and process improvements. Identifying and enabling workflows of interest will be a primary focus and will drive new product development and services.

The primary responsibilities of the role include:

  • Working with the Senior Market Development Manager to prioritize partnership targets for development with a clear focus on scalable applications-based solutions that will provide scalable growth for the business
  • Establish business model for collaboration (benefits, risks, opportunities, etc.). Recognizing the need for both revenue-based and relationship quality and value metrics. Understand and demonstrate likelihood of success of the collaboration and produce budget/margin analysis to assess viability.
  • Implement “relationship lifecycle” approach, similar to a traditional product lifecycle with discovery, development, launch, active sales phase, promotions, packaging (part numbers), ordering system, discontinuation, service and support, etc. Implement checkpoints and go/no-go decisions to ensure relationships are delivering on expectations.
  • Increase brand-awareness of Lab Automation and the capabilities of automation with a focus on opportunities within the organization, as well as with select partner opportunities outside of .
  • Within the scope of established partnerships, work with end-users to drive future product and feature development, generate data and create technical pieces.
  • Stay up to date on trends and provide data-driven intelligence in support of recommended projects. Attend conferences and trade shows where opportunities for relevant applications are highlighted. Focus on business opportunities as well as educational benefit and investigation.
  • Work with Product Management, Applications and Service teams to create and provide training content for customer facing teams.
  • Establish and enforce mutually beneficial rules of engagement for the respective sales teams to maintain and improve existing partnerships.

This will be a full-time position based out of our Burlington office, with hours from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, plus occasional travel to meet with our partners and end customers.

  • Post-secondary degree in Life Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biology / Business, Marketing
  • Knowledge, experience and expertise in the life science industry mandatory, with experience in the lab automation field an advantage

  • Experience establishing and maintaining business development type relations such as OEM partnerships, co-marketing or co-selling
  • Experience using Salesforce, and/or other CRM software
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel internationally
