Design Innovation Specialist Job Opening in Winnipeg

DESIGN INNOVATION SPECIALIST
Authority
The Design Innovation Specialist works under the supervisory function of the Digital Learning Environment Manager.
Purpose
The Design Innovation Specialist is responsible for supporting MFNERC project deliverables by providing design-build expertise integrated with planning, process, and procedures. The role will interface with the internal team and relevant vendors to ensure all aspects of design, planning, product selection, and execution are considered in successful and innovative project deliverables.
Specific Responsibilities
· Designs multimedia experiences that enable users to use the Brightspace LMS and Microsoft 365 environment in new and creative ways;

· Contributes and designs improved user experiences through feedback from learning sessions;

· Collaborates with team members to identify and create new content, focused on first use experiences and task-centered solutions;

· Contributes to procedures to monitor and maintain publishing queues to edit and publish content created by colleagues;

· Contributes to documentation of all LMS configurations, procedures, and workflow diagrams, in conjunction with the Digital Learning & Development team;

· Provides, supports, or arranges individual or group instruction to users of all recommended software, applications, and systems;

· Plans, develops, and collaborates with team members on projects;

· Adheres to development standards and style guide;

· Supports the implementation of the LMS, Microsoft 365, and digital systems organization-wide;

· Contributes to inclusion or integration of Open Educational Resources in conjunction with the team;

· Assists in preparing appropriate presentation materials and packages to the audience for use in community informational workshops;

· Assists in identifying training requirements for implementing new digital projects;

· Prepares and submits monthly activity reports via the SRTS and contributes to the annual report and yearly workplan and other reports as required;

· Participates in special assignments and projects as assigned/required;

· Manages an independent work environment;

· Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education & Experience
· Post-secondary diploma or degree, with coursework in multimedia/graphic design, information technology as it related to education; will consider any related experience;

· Five years of successful experience working as part of project teams, working across multiple stakeholders to drive completion of new and existing initiatives;

· Experience in web design, video production, multimedia content creation, and design principles, including HTML and CSS basics;

· Strong foundation in Adobe Suite products for creativity & design;

· Strong multimedia skillset for creating digital presentations;

· Experience working with learning management systems (LMS), Microsoft 365 applications, and peripheral applications;

· Good undertaking of print and production workflows;

· Experience working with First Nations in the field of education;

· Knowledge of Manitoba First Nations education development and reforms and socio- economic conditions of First Nation communities;

· Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications;

· Excellent oral and written communication skills in technical and plain language writing;

· Strong time management and organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure;

· Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines;

· Professional behaviours that personify a strong work ethic;

· Ability to work independently and cooperatively in an interdisciplinary team of professionals;

· Ability to speak a First Nations Languages would be considered an asset;

· Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills to work in a First Nations environment;

· Valid Class 5 Driver's License;

· Flexibility for occasional travel to MFNERC member schools throughout Manitoba;

· Satisfactory Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector and Child Abuse Registry checks.
