PLEASE NOTE: Depending on the site location candidates may have to complete pre-access criminal records check, medicals and drug and alcohol testing to gain access to site. Reporting to the Corporate Health and Safety Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the training of heavy equipment operators at a remote site in the Canadian North. The trainer will have the ability to adapt to various environments and different types of equipment, along with hand-to-eye coordination, and strong organization skills. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide training to site employees in the proper use of various types of heavy duty equipment at the work site( Dozers, excavators, Haul trucks, etc.)
  • Deliver training to site employees
  • Assess qualifications and on-the-job training of all new employees prior to operating heavy equipment and sign off on skills.
  • Liaise with inspectors, Safety Officers, and Nuna’s Site Superintendent, site- based SafetyOfficers, and Corporate Environmental, Health and Safety Manager
  • Review operations at the work site to confirm compliance with applicable related legislation, and regulations

  • Ensure Nuna employees are adequately trained for their assigned work and training records are up-to-date
  • Minimum 5 years experience as Heavy Equipment Operator
  • 2 years experience as a Heavy Equipment Trainer (preferred)
  • Computer skillsworking knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), email
  • Experience in living and/or working in Northern Canada will be considered an asset
  • Willing and capable of working at a remote site
  • Experience as a trainer or experience operating all kinds of equipment is a must:
    • Dozer
    • Loader
    • Excavator
    • Rock Truck
    • Grader
Rotation: Rotation are expected to be 2 weeks in / 2 weeks out; 12-hour shifts Rate: Competitive hourly rate with Overtime, Full benefits including Company RRSP, Flights, camp provided.
